Hi, I’m Jessica starr
I believe no one should have to carry life’s struggles alone. I know reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, overwhelming, or even uncertain. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely safe, seen, and accepted exactly as they are.
My approach to counseling is warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth, blending authenticity with practical tools to help clients navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and personal growth.
I am passionate about helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and build healthier ways of coping and communicating. Whether you are feeling stuck, disconnected, exhausted, or simply longing for change, I aim to walk alongside you with empathy, honesty, and encouragement as you move toward healing and lasting growth.
My Approach
Emotionally Attuned
Emotions carry important information about our experiences and needs. Often times difficult emotions as viewed as problems to be eliminated. While strong emotions can be inconvenient, they offer a roadmap to what matters most.
I help clients develop a deeper understanding of their emotional world and learn how to respond to their feelings with curiosity, self-compassion, and intention. Together, we explore patterns, experiences, and relationships that may be contributing to current challenges while building practical tools for coping, healing, and growth.
Trauma informed
My clinical approach is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care, recognizing how past experiences can shape emotions, relationships, self-worth, and daily functioning.
My work focuses on helping clients build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, process difficult experiences, and move toward healing at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.
Behavioral Awareness
Behavior is intentional and routed in various functions. I focus not only on thoughts and emotions, but on the patterns, habits, and behaviors that can keep people feeling stuck.
Together, we explore how certain behaviors may have once served a protective purpose while also identifying new, healthier ways to respond to stress, conflict, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions.
Gottman Certified
I have extensive training in the Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach designed to help partners strengthen connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict more effectively. I’m part of a select group of providers who are internationally recognized as a Certified Gottman Therapist.
I help couples identify unhelpful interaction patterns, rebuild trust, deepen emotional intimacy, and develop practical skills for managing disagreements in healthier ways. My goal is to help couples feel more understood, supported, and connected while creating a stronger foundation for long-term relationship growth and stability.
